Totuşi, remarca "as any watchmaker will freely admit, Rolex watches are, in many respects, the best in the world" cred că este mai mult decât exagerată. Personal apreciez/iubesc anumite mărci orologere infinit mai mult decât Rolex, deşi sunt conştient că sunt sub nivelul acesteia. De asemenea, există nume, deloc puţine, la care Rolex va privi (să fim oneşti cu noi înşine) întotdeauna în sus.
NU doresc defel să lansez o polemică pro/contra Rolex - rezultatul fiind uşor previzibil.

Totuşi, remarca "as any watchmaker will freely admit, Rolex watches are, in many respects, the best in the world" cred că este mai mult decât exagerată.

Rolex a avut in istoria sa 2 realizari notabile: coroana filetata si armarea automata cu rotor central. Restul e reclama. Sa nu uitam (de ex.) ce palpitatii a avut Rolex in anii `70 cand Roamer a realizat mecanismele automatice cu rotor pe bile de rubin!

Este limpede faptul ca orologeria elvetiana se afla incremenita tot in secolul XIX.... Uneori, pentru anumite persoane conteaza mai mult decoratiunile, pietrele pretioase, suruburile albastrite si cadranele emailate decat functionalitatea si precizia ceasurilor. Din pacate, imaginea Rolex, de exemplu, are mult de suferit din cauza asocierii firmei cu snobismul. Da, consider Rolex singura companie care se dezvolta pe verticala si care nu depinde de nimeni si nimic decat de proprii ingineri si, apreciez faptul ca folosesc si roboti pentru a fabrica anumite piese. Asta nu inseamna ca ceasurile lor sunt mai slabe decat altele. « Take Breitling, whose multi-axis computer- controlled milling machines’ heat-exchange units keep the factory warm through the freezing Swiss winter. « One robot analyses the “feel” of Breitling’s chronograph pushbutton, just as Bentley has honed the exact “clunk” of its doors.” Cu siguranta se simte un current mai rece prin laboratoarele Breitling de cand Swatch Group nu le mai vinde calibre si pentru a mentine « fierbinte » imaginea firmei au simtit nevoia sa investeasca in masini pentru controlul caldurii. Iar frazele acestea: “Never again will you have to ponder how fine watches justify their astronomical price tags. In fact, they’re something of a bargain.” reprezinta un fel de “crede si nu cerceta” pentru ca o sa ai numai de castigat si nu este altceva decat inca o fraza menita spalarii pe creier. De aceea, nu doresc sa fiu neaparat convins de astfel de articole, de cat de important si minunat este sa investesc zeci de mii de euro intr-un ceas.

The new Mido Multifort 80th Anniversary GMT Edition features a second zone-time mechanism. A moving, compartmentalized flange displays the names of cities representing the world’s 24 time zones.

The second zone-time (T2) is set using the screw-in crown at 2 o’clock. The small arrow-shaped hand, activated with the screw-in crown at 4 o’clock, shows the time in the T2 time zone following a 24-hour graduated scale. These two crowns without doubt mark the unique design and resolutely masculine character of this GMT Edition.

Both robust and chic, the GMT Edition will appeal to all watchmaking enthusiasts with its transparent case back through which the finely decorated automatic movement can be seen, along with an oscillating weight decorated with Geneva stripes and the Mido-logo. The Multifort 80th Anniversary GMT Edition is water-resistant up to a pressure of 100 m or 330 ft and has a brown calf leather strap fitted with a folding clasp in rose PVD-treated stainless steel.

The model is also available with a stainless steel case and bracelet.



Movement Automatic Mido 1193 (ETA 2893-2 base), 11½’’’, Ø25.60 mm, height 4.10 mm, 21 jewels, 28,800 A/H, NIVACHOC and NIVACOURBE shock-absorbers, NIVAFLEX NM mainspring. Fine decorated elaborate movement, decorated oscillating weight with Geneva stripes and engraved Mido-logo. Adjusted on 4 different positions for a high accuracy. Min. 42 hours of power reserve.

Functions HMSD + GMT.

Case Stainless steel 316L with rose PVD treatment, Ø42 mm, 2 pieces, sapphire crystal with an anti-reflecting treatment on both sides, transparent case back to see the finely decorated and elaborate movement, engraved serial number, screwed crowns and case back, water-resistant up to a pressure of 10 bar (100 m / 330 ft).
